For the first 2 days they give you the full version of the app to try. The third day it goes to basic. I only used this with the treadmill so did not try the GPS. The first days were fun in that it told you how many calories lost during each training phase. It also had the km/min for each section. I have another couch to 5k app and that apps WEEK 3-4 is equal to this apps day 1. I liked that but it was a bit more advanced than I was expecting. I would not buy the full version after having the first 2 days though because the voice commands only come at the end of the section. There is no half way, 10 sec left prompts so you are always checking to see where you are.
